Exploring Nashville, TN

I’m all about straight to the point blogs with packed in info, and not a lot of fluff or personal stuff. But… since it’s been a HOT minute since I’ve blogged on my site, I wanted to give a little transition. So just skip below if you don’t care!

In June 2019, my husband and I left Lynchburg, VA and our stationary jobs for a new one and a new adventure. Right now we are currently traveling for our new job before we move overseas! We are super excited and can’t wait to get to our new home. Right now I can’t say much about our new jobs but I hope as time goes on I will be able to share more. Since my life and blog is transitioning, I thought, what better way to share our opportunity to travel through our jobs than on my blog. As you will see, my blog is evolving through some of my other passions. I can’t wait to share more about our travels, as we explore, experience, meet new people, take a ton of photos, and eat some good food!

Welcome to Nashville.

Atmosphere: Modern, high exposed ceilings, and extra long community tables. They roast in house too!

Price: Prices were maybe a little more than normal but the pour overs could also be almost be two cups worth, so it all shakes out.

What We Got: We both got pour overs. I got the Ethiopia pour over, which the barista said it was his favorite and Josh got the Colombia pour over. The Vietnamese cold brew also looked super yummy with lemongrass, cardamom, and sweetened condensed milk!

Overall: We both enjoyed the coffee and Josh was especially loving it. We happen to know the head roaster, so that was fun to visit him. If you swing by tell Dan that I sent you from my blog! Also, unless you want two cups of coffee, I would totally split a pour over with my husband the next time!

Worst Part: Apparently the manager on duty gets to pick the music- and let’s just say his taste is horrible. I even tried to put my head phones in there while we were working and it was so loud and bad that I was getting a headache. I think we were under the speakers and it was pretty crowded in there, otherwise we would have moved spots.

Atmosphere: Although this is a chain place for hot chicken, it did not feel like a Zaxby’s or KFC. They had indoor seating, outdoor covered picnic benches, and some cute patio seating. It was super clean and fresh and I enjoyed eating there verses take out like we normally do for chicken fingers or wings.

Price: Prices were completely reasonable for quick food, but we were super pleased with the portions.

What We Got: We split a three chicken finger plate, which came with two sides- we choose pimento mac and cheese and southern greens. The chicken fingers are available in both breaded and grilled in 4 spiciness flavors and we got the one above mild. The breaded fingers tasted spicier then the grilled finger. Josh liked the spicy level we got, but I would go one hotter next time, especially when you dip it in ranch. All plates come with a slice of bread.

Overall: We waited in like for a good 10 minutes because of the line even though we came after 1 pm. It took about another 10 min for our food to come out, which they bring to your table. This would not be a great place for a party larger than six, as seating would be tricky.

Worst Part: The line but it was worth the wait.

Atmosphere: Super tiny, hole in the wall. Only 2 or 3 tables.

Price: Normal coffee shop prices.

What We Got: Iced Honey-Sage Latte.

Overall: I was super excited to see a unique crafted iced coffee instead of just your normal caramel coffee. The first sip hits you off guard, but by sip three, you’ll be glad you ordered it.

Worst Part: None really, unless you were hoping to sit down.

Atmosphere: Vintage, hipster, Nashville music vibes.

Price: Incredible reasonable for what they were. $2 clothing items and huge hand made metal lighted signs for roughly $150

What We Got: Nothing, sadly. If we weren’t moving overseas soon, I would have bought something!

Overall: This store was super cool! I can’t even remember or explain what else beside signs there were but it was far from cheesy. Totally worth it to wonder around in, especially if you hit up the other things on that street like we did.

Worst Part: None really.

Atmosphere: Pretty standard thrift store.

Price: Average thrift store prices.

What We Got: Nothing, unfortunately.

Overall: It was worth it to go in. I never seem to have luck in thrift stores as hard as I try. But if you are a thrifter, I’d say it was a decent one for clothes. There is a colored ticket discount each day.

Worst Part: None, really,

Atmosphere: Outdoors replica of the one in Athens Greece.

Price: Free, unless you go downstairs to the museum than its $6 per adult

Overall: We spent about 15 min there, just walking around and snapping a few photos. If you’re in the area or close by I would check it out but if you aren’t a monument or museum buff, I wouldn’t have gone out of my way. We didn’t really explore the rest of the park, but it looked nice. There were a couple of vendors around the Parthenon, like popsicles or shaved ice but beware, you can’t bring food or drinks into the museum below.

Worst part: None, really.

Atmosphere: It’s near the baseball field, so it has a very baseball eatery vibe (if that makes sense to anyone else-haha). I’m comparing it to the restaurants around the Denver, CO baseball field or Birmingham, AL. It had an inside area and outside, where we ate. Outside had two sections. One was a covered area with picnic benches and the other was all outside with twinkle lights strung above. There were a few outdoor games you could play and also a couple standing tables.

Price: For a hotdog, pretzel and drink place, you really wouldn’t think you would spend that much. But I’ll warn you right now, we spent a lot just between one pretzel to share, beer cheese to dip it in, and parking.

What We Got: As noted above, one pretzel to share and beer cheese to dip it in. It was delicious but way overpriced.

Overall: I wanted this place to be a home run, but it had a few things going against it. However, we sat outside and as it got dark the twinkle lights came on and we had a great time together.

Worst Part: We happened to go on Trivia Night, which was not our intention, so the music kept going in and out with the Trivia Game. If you eat outside, you’re limited to a select menu and you order at the bar. Parking is $5 minimum and that’s the only option. We didn’t even go on baseball game night. Also, I’m not sure if this is a Nashville thing in general, but if you wanted a specialty drink, expect to pay $10.

{Sorry no pics, but they have a good Instagram.}

Atmosphere: Atmosphere was nice but comparative to the common modern and wood coffee shop. We didn’t have any trouble finding a spot to sit and most tables were two or four-seat tables.

Price: Normal coffee shop price.

What We Got: Josh got the espresso and tonic. They were voted to have the best espresso in town. Josh said it was super smooth and he could have drunk that all day.

Lin got the americano- hot.

Overall: Lin wished she would have gotten the espresso and tonic, but we were both please with our coffees, the service, and the atmosphere.

Worst Part: Parking was a little tricky, both finding the parking lot and realizing which one was for the coffee shop but otherwise parking was fine and available.
